Can a parent with a history of causing domestic violence get visitation with the child(ren)?

Yes, it’s possible. In Mississippi, having a conviction for domestic violence or a propensity for domestic violence carries with it a presumption that that person is unfit for custody. However, if the child would benefit from having a relationship with that person and that person has now shown violence towards the child, then there can be restricted visitation. And in a lot of instances if the child has not been harmed by the perpetrator, they can get unrestricted visitation, but it’s monitored closely by the courts.
