Are same-sex partners eligible for family abuse protective orders?

Absolutely. In Mississippi, all that is required to get a family abuse domestic protection order is there be or have been or be a romantic relationship and there be some type of domestic violence. So it doesn’t matter if they’re same-sex or not same-sex couples. That’s not the test and the courts don’t treat it that way and we’ve handled a number of those types of incidents and cases in our office.
